NEW Regional Park Manager II

Education Requirement: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, hospitality management, horticulture, agronomy, botany, landscape architecture, or related field.- Knowledge of the principles and practices of business management, public relations, and supervision.
- Knowledge of and ability to do budget preparation, basic accounting and record-keeping.
- Ability to plan, direct and supervise the work of subordinate staff.
- Ability to develop policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Ability to plan the development and growth of a regional park.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with staff, representatives of other departments, community groups, and the general public.
- Ability to deal effectively with employees, volunteers, and the public.
Join the Department of Parks and Recreation as our next Regional Park Manager II! This full-time position follows a regular Monday through Friday schedule, from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Under the general direction of the Parks and Recreation District Manager II, you’ll take the lead in managing and maintaining the vibrant Ala Moana Regional Park and surrounding areas. From overseeing park grounds, facilities, and equipment to driving exciting recreation and leisure programs, you’ll be the hands-on leader shaping unforgettable outdoor experiences and planning impactful park improvements. What You’ll Do:
- Plan and organize the parks and recreation operations and maintenance functions in a geographic area through subordinate personnel.
- Direct, conduct in-person, on-site visits and coordinates the management, operation, control and maintenance of all parks and recreation areas in the section.
- Oversee the coordination with various agencies and City personnel (Department of Design and Construction, Managing Director’s Office, Department of Enterprise Services, Department of Facility Maintenance, Department of Environmental Services, Maintenance Support Services Section, Division of Urban Forestry, etc.) to plan and coordinate programs, activities and functions.
- Direct and coordinate, through subordinate staff, the operations of recreational and educational programs and services within the area.
- Enforce the State’s park rule enforcement and natural resource protection laws, rules and regulations to ensure the protection, conservation and utilization of fish and wildlife resources.
Special Work Requirements:
- Will be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Will serve as a Disaster Response worker during declared emergencies.
