Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, or any related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience designing, deploying and operating medium or large-scale networks.
  • Cisco CCNP certification is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco routers and Layer 2 / Layer 3 switches
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco and Fortinet firewalls and VPNs
  • Familiarity with Cisco and Ubiquiti wireless systems
  • Experience with Wi-Fi access point placement and radio frequency design
  • Working knowledge of VMWare and SAN clustered environments
  • Experience designing and managing interconnected remote sites utilizing MPLS / VPNs / Private Fiber / Site-to-Site Wireless.
  • Working knowledge of physical infrastructure design including structured cabling and fiber-optic cabling.
  • Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Job Description

Responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and managing local and wide area networks.

Examples of Duties

  • Designs and implements new network solutions and improves the efficiency of current networks.
  • Develops network operating standards, security policies, and procedures.
  • Configures routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls, and other equipment to maximize network efficiency and security.
  • Manages citywide Security infrastructure. Participates in network security audits.
  • Coordinates infrastructure installation and maintenance with various departments, vendors and outside agencies.
  • Monitors capacity and network performance and pursues appropriate actions.
  • Schedules and performs maintenance including upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning of production networks
  • Provides internal support to departmental users.
