Job Requirements

Graduation from an accredited school of law, must be admitted to the State of Alaska Bar Association and one (1) year of experience in the legal field. (This could include any volunteer or internship)
Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) / National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within 30 days of hire. Must possess a valid State of Alaska driver's license at the time of hire.

Job Description

This is an entry level attorney position. It requires no previous years of criminal experience. The prosecutor handles all aspects of misdemeanor offense under the municipal code from pre-arriagnment, screening, evidence assessment, research, motions, appeals, trails, to inquiries for information. Prosecutor must be able to field questions from law enforcement, assist with traffic trials, and respond to motions. Plan, organize, and direct the functions of the Municipal legal function in accordance with all applicable laws, ordinances, rules and regulations. Perform other related duties as assigned.

If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted background check. A background check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment.

If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon the submission of a copy of the applicant’s Alaska driver’s license and a current copy of his/her Department of Motor Vehicles’ driving record, including a driving record from previous states if the Alaskan driver’s license was first issued within one year prior to application, documenting an acceptable driving history.
