Deputy County Attorney
Required Education and Experience:
- Juris doctor from an accredited law school
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
- Class C driver’s license
- Admitted and licensed to practice in the State of Wyoming
Represents the State of Wyoming in prosecution cases in District and Circuit Court. May provide civil government legal services to the Campbell County government. Performs a variety of professional duties involved in providing a full range of legal services related to county government operations and/or criminal prosecution. Conducts legal research and prepares resolutions, memoranda, administrative rules and regulations, and other legal documents. May advise County departments, boards, and commissions. Performs work independently and without much oversight or direction from the County Attorney.
Essential Duties and Responsibilites

- Appears before Courts and administrative proceedings to represent the State’s and/or County’s interest as required. May prosecute or defend assigned suits instituted by or against the County or its officers.
- Drafts various legal documents including ordinances, resolutions, contracts, leases, permits, briefs, memoranda, and motions.
- May render technical legal advice and opinions to the County Commissioners, boards, commissions, and department staff as required.
- Conducts on-going legal research in connection with legal issues pertaining to the County and/or criminal prosecution. Prepares oral and written legal opinions.
- Reviews law enforcement reports and prepares charging documents.
- Attends and participates in professional group meetings. Stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of law. Attends and participates in staff meetings and related activities. Serves on committees as assigned.
