The Mayor’s Office of Education is seeking a dynamic and passionate Communications Director for Education. The ideal candidate will be responsible for crafting and executing communication strategies to effectively convey the mission, initiatives, and achievements of the Mayor’s Office of Education.
The Mayor’s Office of Education is responsible for implementing the Mayor’s vision of a world class education for all students and executing on key initiatives. The Office oversees several city education programs including Community Schools, Adult Education and other programs.
Essential Functions:
- Strategy Development: Creating comprehensive communication plans aligned with the Mayor’s Office of Education goals and objectives, considering various stakeholders in the K-12, higher education and adult education community.
- Public Relations: Building and maintaining positive relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to garner favorable coverage for Parker Administration initiatives.
- Content Creation: Developing engaging content for various platforms, including websites, social media channels, newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials.
- Writing: Writing talking points for the Chief Education Officer, articles, blog posts, speeches.
- Brand Management: Ensuring consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels to enhance the Mayor’s Office of Education reputation and visibility.
- Internal Communication: Facilitating effective communication within the organization by disseminating important information, updates, and announcements to the Mayor’s Office of Education Team.
- Digital Marketing: Utilizing digital channels effectively to reach target audiences, including social media platforms to share information and engage with community members and stakeholders.
- Measurement and Evaluation: Monitoring and analyzing the effectiveness of communication efforts through metrics such as website traffic, social media engagement, media mentions, and audience feedback, and making adjustments as necessary.
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- A communications mindset that includes strong writing skills and the ability to explain difficult subjects in plain language. Applicants must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the City’s constituents.
