Director of Financial Services

Other than minimum requirements specified below, any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities to successfully act as the Director of Financial Services is considered qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

• Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible experience in governmental accounting, budgeting and treasury management. Three years in leadership (minimum requirement), preferably at a manager or director level.
• Training and Education: A bachelor’s degree (minimum requirement). Candidate should have completed course work in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred. Experience in the implementation of ERP system and/or the Tyler Technologies ERP is desirable but not required.
• Certifications: CPA or GFOA Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) is preferred.

As the leader of Financial Services, you will be a key leader in the implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The implementation process is expected to take about 24 months to complete, bringing the city an integrated approach to effective and efficient programs in all areas of the city. The position reports to the Deputy City Manager, who was the previous Director of Financial Services. As Deputy, she oversees three departments and acts as liaison to the Municipal Court.
